The principles of sustainable development are embodied in all areas of our work. These are the very principles of a holistic and integrated approach to planning that Nat Lichfield has advocated throughout his career – well before the ideas underpinning the art of planning for sustainable development became fashionable.
Lichfield Planning has been at the cutting edge of the integrated approach to Planning. Following Nat Lichfield’s Community Impact Evaluation, our Partners developed the award winning methodology of Integrated Planning and Environmental Assessment and the more recent Dynamic Planning . These methodologies were developed in response to challenges they faced with complex regional planning, urban development and urban regeneration issues. This approach, evident in all our fields of expertise and projects, is based on understanding processes of urban and regional; change and involving the ‘active’ and ‘recipient’ stakeholders who play a role in the process.
Sustainable development considerations form the core philosophy underpinning all our services especially those focused on master planning and regeneration strategies (Urban Village, Lincoln) community development (Egi Community Sustainable Development Plan) urban design (New Town at Wallerfield, Trinidad) and sustainability impact appraisal (Peterborough Sustainable Resource Recycling Facility).
