Lichfield Planning was commissioned by Mid-Suffolk District Council to explore development opportunities, establish sound development principles and pave the way for detailed planning and design guidance. That guidance is intended to steer development so as to bring social, economic and environmental benefits to the local communities.

A flexible methodology was adopted to respond to the complex nature of some of the development opportunities. This approach allowed the study to develop an imaginative yet realistic vision of what could be achieved through the coordinated and creative development of the sites.

The resulting vision-based approach was informed, but not dictated, by market considerations, balancing and reconciling widely varying and sometimes conflicting objectives. The result is an exciting vision that has successfully fired imaginations and raised awareness that there are opportunities here to create a genuinely special place in ways that address and respond to 21st Century needs- benefiting landowners, developers and the local community alike.

The development of the area is now underway to accommodate a range of uses including a major and nationally significant major indoor ski, winter sports and leisure facility... Snoasis.
